On Saturday March 8th a wind impacted brush fire affected a large portion of the Pine Barrens area in Westhampton Beach. The dept was requested to respond with specialized brush trucks in aiding in the exthinghishing efforts. Brush Trucks 6 & 9 along with Chiefs 31 and 32 responded. Upon arrival the units were placed into task force with various depts from across Suffolk County and entered the woods to exthinghish fire. Members on these apparatuses operated for 8 hours without a break to keep any fires from spreading. The following day Brush Trucks 19 arrived to assist the forestry service with any residual hot spots. The cause is under investigation by the Southampton Town Fire Marshall’s office with the Suffolk County PD Arson squad. No injuries were reported
