On 7/1 at 7:20 p.m. the dept received a call for a Oder of gas in the area. Chiefs 30, 31 & 32 responded. While conducting there investigation a civilian pointed out a food truck in a local driveway with a propane tank attached where the smell was emanating from. Immediately C-30 implemented dept guild lines for gas emergencies. R-4 responded along with E-7 and began metering the affected area. C-31 assumed operations working with
C-32 to come up with a mitigation strategy. With the leak unable to be stopped beyond dept resources the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal Haz Mat team was requested to respond. The Fire Marshal requested the balance of the Haz Mat response for a controlled burn off of the remaining gas. This operation went well into the night with operations concluded at 3:28 a.m. Ambulance 8 along with FR-80 was on scene for rehab of members. There were no injuries reported.
